The Divine Visit to Chennai and Thiruthani
December 18 to December 20, 2015

Chennai - December 18 - 20, 2015
'Love' walked this earth on two feet, extending His compassion to every soul. Standing tall and shining bright, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's grace is incomprehensible and His mercy, unfathomable! For, how else can we describe this phenomena, where He touched millions around the world, through various facets of His mission in the human form. Of course, God showers His infinite compassion and incomparable love without any discrimination.

What we witnessed in Chennai was an outcome of the infinite grace and compassion! Bhagawan had remarked, "How can can I go empty handed during their troubled times? I want to go and meet them, and start the rehabilitation work and give them hope!" Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the embodiment of 'Love' visited Chennai to flag-off the third round of relief supplies distribution, from S B Mahal Kalyana Mandapam, Selaiyur, Tambaram on Friday, December 18, 2015.

Bhagawan flagged-off the trucks, packed with supplies and accompanied by volunteers. Over 1,000 families in the five villages of Thangal, Sembakam, Madhurapakam, Mudichur & Rajakilapakam were the beneficiaries. A team of volunteer doctors also accompanied the trucks to every location. and administered essential medicines to the villagers.
Day Two - Thiruthani: Saturday, December 17, 2015

Thiruthani is a town, about 85kms from Chennai, dedicated to Lord Muruga or Subramanya. Thiruthani is one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga, known as 'Arupadaiveedu' in Tamil. The other five abodes (towns) all in the state of Tamil Nadu are Palani, Swamimalai, Thirupparangunram, Pazhamudircholai and Thiruchendur. It is said that Lord Rama, after vanquishing Ravana, visited Rameshwaram, and then Thiruthani. Lord Sai Rama decided to visit Thiruthani to bless Sri Siva Prasad, his devout wife Smt Lata and their family. It indeed reminded us of the story of the devout 'Shabari' from Ramayana!

Beloved Bhagawan's visit to the rain ravaged Chennai, saw the day two events unfold in two blessed locations. Swami and a small group of guests visited the factory and house of Sri Siva Prasad in Thiruthani, while His volunteer army marched to Chidambaram in the Cuddalore district (one of the worst affected areas) for Seva, with 14 trucks laden with relief supplies!

More than 50 volunteers, along with 15 doctors left at 5am for Vazhaithoppu, Pastimuthan Vaikkal Karai, North Thillainayakkapuran, Pinnathur, Nanjamugathu Vazhkai, Panangadu, Veeranandhapuram, Velampoondi, Kuchoor, Thirmoolasthanam, Refugee Camp and Sivakkam. The 'Sai Wheels' bus which had arrived past midnight on Friday from Muddenahalli, made its maiden journey of Seva to Chidambaram. Jointly conceptualised by a team in the US  and India, 'Sai Wheels' was the outcome of the 'Science for Society' conference which was held in San Diego in June 2015, under the guidance and directions of Bhagawan. 'Sai Wheels' is the acronym for...

Day Three - Chennai: Sunday, December 20, 2015

Morning - The final day of the Lord's visit to Chennai had a packed itinerary. The first half of the day saw the culmination of the third leg of the relief activity, with all the volunteers who had spread love in various locations around Chennai and Cuddalore district, returning to the Seva hub, the newly inaugurated S B Mahal at Tambaram, Chennai, to the bosom of their Mother Sai. A public function was arranged for all the devotees and volunteers, and over 700 people had gathered at 9:30am on Sunday morning, to experience the love of their beloved Bhagawan.

Swami arrived at 10:45am, after granting interviews to a few devotees. Melodious bhajans were in progress, which gained tempo as the Lord and the esteemed dignitaries  took their seats on the dias. The function began with Veda chanting by the women devotees, which included alumnae from the Anantapur campus.

After a brief welcome address, a musical rendering of a bouquet of five songs by the Sevamrutham youth was offered at the Lotus Feet of Sai Ma. The songs were presented in Tamil, Telugu and English.

The first speech of the morning was by Sri Kalyanaraman, a long standing devotee of Swami since 1969, and instrumental in starting the breakfast Seva activity in Tambaram a few months ago. He narrated how he first came to Swami in 1969, when he heard that the Avatar resided in Puttaparthi. He reminisced some of His experiences, and narrated how he began actively participating in Seva activities. Speaking of more recent times, Sri Kalyanaraman shared with the gathering how he had reconnected with the Lord in the subtle form, and how in an interview the compassionate Lord had enquired about his health, referring to the accident which only a handful of people knew! He ended his talk with a note, saying that he had never been afraid to proclaim his love and devotion to Swami, be it during the early days in the 1960's when he first came in contact with Swami or now, when Swami is with us in His subtle form!

Day Three - Chennai: Sunday, December 20, 2015

Evening: Music is a kind of spiritual sadhana, which uplifts the soul, transporting the listener to a completely different realm! After a brief rest, the entourage accompanied Bhagawan to the residence of noted musician Sri Mandolin U Rajesh and family, to savour this experience. His brother Padmashri U Srinivas was a child prodigy-turned mandolin maestro. The devout family were eagerly waiting to receive the Lord with much devotion and adoration.

The family along with a group of invitees welcomed Bhagawan, who made His way into the house and headed straight to Sri Srinivas's room. He spent some precious moments with the family, after which Bhagawan was led to the music room, where Sri U Rajesh rendered some soulful songs at the Lotus Feet. After a blissful 20 minutes, Bhagawan blessed him and his sisters profusely. He then narrated a story of Mughal Emperor Jalaluddin Akbar, his court musician Tansen, and their encounter with Swami Haridas.

Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini, the mobile hospital service was lovingly named by Bhagawan, and officially inaugurated on the occasion of His 90th Birthday on November 23, 2015.
A health screening camp was conducted on December 20, 2015 at Bamangachi village of Langolberia area, in the District of South 24 Parganas, in West Bengal, India, by the Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini team. Langolberia comprises of a cluster of 20 villages, where daily wagers are mostly involved in guava cultivation. Ladies of the village are involved in100 days of contractual work, for preparing the fields for pisciculture. The camp was organised at the Bamangachi Free Primary School building, with the support of the Panchayat and villagers.

The registration process and patient records were uploaded into a customised software for future  handy reference. Patients were screened for clinical history, and vital statistics were also recorded. This was followed by a consultation session with a doctor, who prescribed the required medications and referrals for any further investigations. A pharmacy was also in the offing, where free medicines were administered as per the prescriptions. It was very endearing to see the local youth extend their complete support and cooperation!
