Day 6 (morning) proceedings of Athi Rudra Maha Yagna, Navarathri Homa and Durga Puja

Saturday, October 18, 2015 – Morning: The atmosphere in Muddenahalli is charged with divine vibrations after five days of Athi Rudra Maha Yagna, being performed alongside Navaratri Homa and Durga Puja. The sixth day's proceedings began in a typical fashion with Aruna Parayana and Mahanyasa Parayana.

Swami arrived at the venue at quarter past ten, proceeding directly to the Durga Puja, where He was welcomed by the traditional Dhakis (drum-players) who had come all the way from Birbhum district, Shantiniketan, West Bengal. Swami mentioned that since it was not possible for all the devotees to visit West Bengal, He had brought West Bengal and the Dhakis to Muddenahalli. Swami was offered Bengali Sweets brought specially from Kolkata, which He blessed, and asked to be distributed to the West Bengal team. Further, answering the prayers of the team, Swami said He would come to the Hrudaya Mandiram post the evening session for a ritual known as Bodhan (literally translates to "awakening"). As per Hindu scriptures, it is believed that the Gods and Godesses go to sleep during the southward journey of the moon. Durga Puja, which occurs in the autumn, falls midway during this transition. Bodhan signifies the awakening of the Goddess Durga.

Swami then proceeded towards the Navaratri Homa enclosure. Saraswathi and Lalitha Homa were in progress. The priest explained that wherever such a Homa is conducted, the surrounding areas are freed from sorrow, troubles and all forms of shortage. It confers bliss and prosperity. He went on to explain that the Sri Chakra, created for the Puja, is not just a Rangoli or a form of art, but the very embodiment of Devi. Swami was particularly pleased with the Sri Chakra that had been drawn and mentioned that it took fourteen hours to complete the Chakra! Swami declared the Chakra to be absolutely perfect. He also suggested that the photographers click photos of the Chakra from the first floor of the Hrudaya Mandiram in order to capture it well.

Following the Navaratri Homa, Swami made His way to the Yagna Shaala, where the Athi Rudra Maha Yagna was underway and blessed all those gathered. Bhagawan retired for the afternoon after Arathi.
