Easwaramma…the Amma Of SaiEaswara…
Monday, May 6th, 2013
Who is Easwaramma? She is the mother of Easwara, said Bhagawan discoursing about the most privileged mother upon planet earth, whose supreme destiny to carry ‘God’ in physical in her womb would ever remain unmatched. Sacrificing her claim upon her ‘Bundle Of Joy’ for the sake of humanity, the simple rustic illiterate mother hailing from Puttaparthi often stayed away from the limelight, astutely following Him with a heart full of love and devotion. Looking back into ‘His Story’, while dwelling upon the beauty of this tender hearted Chosen Mother of Beloved Mother Sai, let’s join Sri Jullie Chaudhuri singing this Supreme Mother’s glory, remembering Her on the occasion of Easwaramma Day, on 6th May.
Janam Diya Tuney Sai Ko,
Hum Pey Kiya Upkaar…
Eashwaramma Tera Sai Yug Yug Ka Avataar…
Hogaye Hum Toh Rini Sai Ke,
Itna Diya Hai Pyaar…
Hum Pey Kiya Upkaar…
Eashwaramma Tera Sai Yug Yug Ka Avataar…
Hogaye Hum Toh Rini Sai Ke,
Itna Diya Hai Pyaar…
Outwardly she seemed like any other simple village lady,
Her knowledge appeared artless and elementary,
However, the gilded pages of history,
Are adorned with her deep understanding,
Care, concern and sympathy,
Her unconditional surrender, her unpretentious harmony,
Thus so was she selected as the Mother of Sathya,
The Mother of Truth Incarnate,
Her Son was the Personification of Dharma,
Shanti, Prema and so too Ahimsa,
Indeed unique is Easwaramma…the Amma Of SaiEaswara…

A lady simple and rustic,
Unassuming and basic,
Totally unaware of the role that awaited her…
…as vast as Her Son to be…was cosmic…

She was referred to as Namagiriamma,
…soon she entered into wedlock with Pedda Venkamma,
From the Raju family,
Residing at Puttaparthi…
Her father-in-law rechristened her Easwaramma…
Whether wittingly or unwittingly,
Judiciously or intuitively…
…future events enveloped with the beauty of divinity…
…went on to prove,
He did so quite ably and aptly,
For as time gently flowed by,
She became enceinte…
…with the celestial embrace of a divine light,
That held the hues of heavenly blue,
Whereby,
…following the gestation period,
She gave birth to a bonny and cherubic ‘little’ Sathya Sai…

What can one say about the Mother the Lord chose,
The soil of Puttaparthi echoes and reechoes,
Innumerable anecdotes,
Charming and touching and ever so full of learning…
Supportive and kind and filled with innate empathy,
A Mother to all…she explicitly felt and expressed,
Each devotee’s agony,
She had the blessed knack,
To treat one and all as a member of her family,
Sans reservations and distinctions,
Exuding the simplistic warmth of a loving connection…

Oh! Mother Easwaramma…Amma of SaiEaswara,
We bow down to you most lovingly…
Oh! Mother Easwaramma,
We seek your generous blessings most earnestly,
Bless us to be as genuine as you proved yourself to be,
You captivated the Lord’s heart most stirringly,
Beyond the hypocrisy of degrees, power and position,
Your ethical knowledge, awareness and understanding,
Shone through your sympathy, sincerity and simplicity…
Bless us, dear Mother, on this day we implore you,
To so attract the Lord with dedication true,
With selfless deeds…thoughts and words too,
Bless us with knowledge true that surpasses material learning,
Bless us with the wisdom of kind ways…
…devoid of cumbersome delays…
…so we may be more deserving,
Bless us with love that embraces all beings as kith and kin,
Bless us even as we strive to journey within,
Bless us that we may respect another’s dignity,
Bless us with the boon of Thy purity…
To view all as divine…bless us with that affinity,
Surrender to His will and that exclusive harmony of amity,
Bless us that we may live to please Him solely,
Our Beloved Lord, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba,
Bless us so…enable us to draw Him close and near,
Bless our endeavour for divine occurrences to recur,
Bless us with that ambrosia…
Of the darshan of Easwarinandanan…of Parthieswara,
We pray Thee, grant us this cherished nectar,
Oh! Most noble Easwaramma…Mother of God most high…
…of Sathya Sai,
Upon us this mighty boon kindly do confer…
So saying, we offer our adorations and salutations unto Thee…

Mother’s Love; Love For Mother…
Monday, May 6th, 2013
Projecting the lofty theme of ‘Mother’s Love; Love For Mother’ students from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir, New Delhi presented an emotion-packed drama entitled Matru Bhakthi this evening here in Prasanthi Nilayam.
The presentation was organised commemorating the third anniversary of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini, falls on the Easwaramma Day, 6 May.
The drama revolved around the aspiring life of a little girl, who nurtured the ambition to sing her best for her beloved earthly mother. Without any musical background, with her burning desire to do her best for her mother, whom she hailed as the best mother in the world, the girl subsequently earns admission in Saraswati Sangeet Vidya Mandir. Her claims that ‘my mother is the best mother in the world’ and ‘i want to sing my best for my mother’ were received cynically by a rude and harsh Principal.
Against all odds at home, with her mother deteriorating day-by-day suffering from cancer, the girl, despite all oddities at the school, wins the heart of her loving music teacher, Mrs Chatterjee.
Irregular at the class, with mother ailing back home, the child hardly gets any support at the school from the Principal.
Listening to her heart, reposing her faith in the little ‘helpless’ talented girl, Mrs. Chatterjee prevails over all oddities enrolling her for a national level competition.
Despite being absent for number of days owing to problems back at home, the girls appears at the venue in the nick of time, completely lost and famished, remaining resolute to excel. Promising to uphold the prestige of the institution the girl finally sings her heart out to her Beloved Mother, in front of a large audience, only to stand first in the competition.
The tragic twist of the story comes when the girl, as the winner, speaks a few words, this time breaking herself down. Revealing that her mother, who had been ailing over the period, of cancer, passed away the same morning, the girl seeks special permission from her teacher to sing a special song of love for her departed mother….and she sings “O Maa Pyaari Maa…†Being grateful for her all out support, the girl even offers the winner’s trophy to her teacher Mrs Chatterjee.
Pouring their hearts out the innocent children burst into singing Maa Oh Maa…Maa Sai Maa…ending the same with the refrain WE MISS YOU SAI MAA…!!!
The presentation was apt for the Easwaramma Day Eve, airing the theme of Matru Bhakti as often preached and practised by Beloved Bhagawan. The presentation was also vociferous of the teacher’s role, in handling children coming from varied background; treating them with great understanding and love.
Earlier, the programme commenced at 1720 hrs. after twenty minutes of Rudram chanting, with a Garhwali Dance by little children from Sri Sathya Sai School, depicting the spiritual and cultural glory of the Garhwal Himalayan region that houses two of the four Dhams, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Sri Sathya Sai School, Rishikesh is the 100th school enrolled under the Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini Scheme.
This was followed by a colourful dance, on the theme Vidya Vahini, by a group of girl students from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir, New Delhi.
Special prizes were given away to all the participants.
Bhajans by students and ended with a mellifluous bhajan as Sunday Special in Bhagawan’s Own Voice. Mangala Arathi was offered at 1840 hrs.
Tomorrow, being Mother Easwaramma Day, special programmes will be conducted at the Smt Easwaramma Samadhi in the morning. Evening presentation will feature a drama entitled “Love All Serve All†by the students of Sri Sathya Sai Jagruthi Vidya Mandir, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana.

The Intricable and Enigmatic Bond
Mother Easwaramma and Swami
Imagine the life of a mother who is constantly in a state of awe and anxiety; awe because right from His birth His son seems to be doing extraordinary feats â€" materialising things out of thin air to ordering the rain and winds gods at His whim and will to daring to advise elders on right conduct who are five times His age! His every act and word is simply a conundrum â€" a puzzle wrapped in an mystery inside an enigma!
And this mother's heart is perenially anxious too because - what if His mysterious powers stop one day? There are so already so many jealous of Him, how is He going to save Himself from the sinister designs of this infuriated and influential people who just cannot stand His fame continuing to spread unabated every day? Why is He challenging and correcting the acts of the mighty and powerful? What if they feel insulted and want to trouble Him? Where is all this headed?
Besides, how can He be to apathetic to anything material? He never eats! At best He only places a spoonful or two on His palate, and that is done sporadically and scrimpily only to please the people around. How can He survive, and walk and talk? And He travels a lot! People come and invite Him and take Him to so many unknown places! Everybody wants something from Him... but what is going to happen to His future?
Why cannot He be a 'normal' child like anyone else and lead an ordinary life?.... this is what tormented this mother every single day as she saw her son transform from being her darling Sathya to a distant and discreet Sai Baba.
While she wanted her Sathya to become 'ordinary', little did she realise that the Divine had decided to make her life superlatively extraordinary. From being just a doting mother to His son, the Lord had designed to slowly and steadily, shape and expand her golden heart to such an extent that she transformed from being the Blessed Mother of Sai Baba to being adored as the Magnificent Mother of Love and Compassion for whole humanity.
Offered below is the audio download of a discussion on this unique and unparalleled relationship that exists between this Divine Mother and His Divine Son. This was first featured as a Live conversation on the Radio on May 2 2013 as part of our Thursday Live Programmes from the Radio Sai studios.
Let's listen and ruminate on this as we celebrate Easwaramma Day on May 6, like we do every year in her sacred remembrance.
