"No hay religión más elevada que el servicio humano". El Sai Sanjeevani equipo de Sri está profundamente honrado y agradecido de ser capaz de experimentar esto, sobre una base diaria. Ha habido otros 365 días de trabajo glorioso hecho. El viaje ha sido satisfactoria y dulce. Nuestra familia ha crecido y se esfuerzan nuestra re-aplica. Hoy miles de niños se les ha dado la oportunidad de un futuro, si no físicamente, emocionalmente y financieramente imposible. Usted fue el soporte vital incesante y humilde al fenómeno que Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani se está convirtiendo. Casos raros

Ishita, un niño de 17 meses se presenta con disnea y coloración azulada de las uñas. Ella fue evaluada y se encontró que tenía la transposición de las grandes arterias y conexión venosa pulmonar anómala total. La combinación de estos dos defectos cardíacos complejos es extremadamente rara. Ha habido sólo un puñado de estos casos reportados en la literatura. El niño fue sometido a la operación de intercambio arterial y reparación para el retorno venoso pulmonar anómalo total. Su curso postoperatorio transcurrió sin complicaciones y fue dada de alta diez días después de la cirugía.

Caso de una de 11 años de edad, hijo varón, que fue evaluado por un murmullo 2 años atrás y diagnosticado de aortico - túnel del ventrículo izquierdo (LV). Se sometió a corrección quirúrgica por el mismo, sin embargo, el tracto túnel permaneció abierta el seguimiento. 5 años de AMOR Y SERVICIO

Sri Sathya Sai Centros Sanjeevani para Niños Heart Care comenzó el viaje de hacer frente a la carga nacional de enfermedades congénitas del corazón en noviembre de 2012 con el primer Centro en Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. "There is no higher religion than human service". The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Team is deeply humbled and grateful to be able to experience this, on a daily basis. It has been another 365 days of glorious work done. The journey has been fulfilling and sweet. Our family has grown and our strive re-enforced. What began a mere five years ago, with a man standing alone in an empty field with nothing but steadfast resolve in his thoughts and faith in his heart has grown to become a formidable hospital-building institution. Sai Sanjeevani was a poem pressed into service as a Centre of Healing.

We stand at the cusp of 2018 filled with new possibilities and new opportunities prepared to work toward a singular goal of "Service to Man is Service to God"

We bid farewell to 2017 with much contentment, gratitude and joy. This year has opened new horizons for the Sai Sanjeevani family and set pace for what the next few years must look like.

This special, end-of-the-year edition of The Heart Beat will bring to you a snapshot of milestones that defined our direction in 2017. We are also delighted to share with you, some new beginnings and compelling stories which hold testimony to the selfless human spirit that manifests at Sai Sanjeevani.

When we look at the quantum of work that was achieved, with over 1667 pediatric cardiac surgeries only in 2017, it makes one salute the spirit of the medical teams who have been remarkably consistent, month on month.

Our heartfelt indebtedness to You - who have placed public service above all duty, and continually do so in Your own silent way. Today thousands of children have been given the chance of a future otherwise physically, monetarily and emotionally impossible. You were the relentless and humble life support to the phenomenon that Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani is becoming. You have been the reminder of the tenacity of the human spirit, to You, we humbly show our gratitude.

Rare Cases

Ishita, a 17 month old child presented with breathlessness and bluish discoloration of nails. She was evaluated and was found to have transposition of great arteries and total anomalous pulmonary venous connection. The combination of these two complex heart defects is extremely rare. There have been only a handful of such cases reported in the literature. The child underwent arterial switch operation and repair for the total anomalous pulmonary venous return. Her postoperative course was uneventful and she was discharged ten days after surgery.

Case of an 11-year-old male child who was evaluated for a murmur 2 years back and diagnosed to have aortico - left ventricular (LV) tunnel. He underwent surgical correction for same, however, the tunnel tract remained opened on follow up. Child successfully underwent percutaneous closure of aortico – LV tunnel at our center with AMPLATZER vascular plug II. The child is currently ready for discharge.

These Pediatric Grand Rounds are held every Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Stanford Auditorium from September to June to develop strategies for best practice in the care of pediatric patients.

5 years of LOVE & SERVICE

Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centers for Child Heart Care began the journey of addressing the national burden of Congenital Heart diseases in November 2012 with the first Center at Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. This month, the Hospital celebrated the important milestone - 5 years of Love & Service. Since the inception over 4000 Pediatric Cardiac Surgeries & Interventions have been conducted and 20,000 Pediatric Cardiac Outpatients screened, all Totally Free of Cost.

As the Journey of Sai Sanjeevani expands to Palwal, Haryana and Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, we took a moment to recognize all our Sanjeevani family members who have selflessly contributed towards this mission , treating every child as their own. It was particularly humbling to witness the continuned commitment of 15 of such members who have been the pillar of this journey and with Sai Sanjeevani even before its inception.

The program saw the enthusiastic cultural presentation on Chhattisgarhi fold songs by the Sai Sanjeevani team.

Not 5, Not 50, But the team pledged to build the Institution to be able to serve for another 500 years.

Divine Mother & Child Health Program

Commencement of Training sessions under the "Chirayu Chhattisgarh" initiative.

A joint initiative between the Government of Chhattisgarh and Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Naya Raipur, for early detection and intervention for Congenital Heart Disease. Training of PHC medical officers, RBSK teams and field workers on "Detection & signs/symptoms of CHD" is an important component of the program. Two sessions were held on 8^th December 2017, wherein 15 Government doctors and 30 field workers of the Kawardha District of Chhattisgarh were trained with several photos and videos and a Question-Answer session thereafter.

Medical officers were keen on attending a one/ two-day short training at the Hospital for hands-on practice in Auscultation & detection of cardiac murmurs and requested for arranging this training soon.

Healthy Mothers Beget Healthy Children

Divine Mother and Child Health Programme conducted its third monthly screening programme for pregnant women in Chikballapur Dist, Karnataka. In a short span of two months, the programme has touched 1186 expecting mothers with about 30 doctors mostly alumni of Sri Sathya Sai Institutions coming forward to dedicate their time and resources once a month for the cause of Healthy Motherhood. Another 40 volunteers joined the medical team to help them on the ground with data entry, logistics, etc.

The Doctors discovered that close to 50%of the pregnant women screened were anemic and required nutritional support on a sustained basis. The Trust is now exploring ways to reach out to and feed these mothers in Chikballapur district.

Just a little Warmth

With the Winters Setting in and the temperatures plummeting down, our programme team of DMCHP at Palwal, Haryana in collaboration with Annapurna Breakfast Team distributed Sweaters to Little Children in about 12 Government Schools. Annapurna takes care of their nutritional requirement by serving them breakfast every day and as a natural extension, this activity was taken up to further take care of little children s physical needs.

An Evening with Sadguru

The event was organized by the IAS officers Association. Our Program team provided seamless support to the association which was well appreciated. Sadguru was keen on meeting a few children under the care of the hospital. He was moved by the work being done here in Naya Raipur as well as Palwal. He graciously accepted a copy of the pictorial biography of Swami, "I Am God, So Are You". He conveyed his 'Best Wishes' to the Institute in all endeavors.
