VISITA DIVINA - SRI SATHYA SAI VANINIKETANAM, GADAG
OCTUBRE 02, 2017

NAVARATRI CELEBRACIONES

The Cost of Compassion

It was during the early days when Satsanghs were held at Anandam, Swami's hill-top abode, when a lady sobbing bitterly, beseeched His grace for her ailing son who was in the prime of his youth.

"Swami! My son has been diagnosed with cancer, please save him", she pleaded.

Swami paused in His steps, looked at her compassionately, but did not say anything and moved forward.

"Swami...Swami...Swami...", the heartbroken mother was still seeking His attention, as He moved away to bless others.

On the way back, again this distraught mother, shedding helpless tears begged, "Swami, please save my son".

Swami did not say anything initially but then as she continued crying, Swami uttered, "He will be alright."

The very next moment, the mother who was inconsolable became absolutely calm and quiet, as if under some magical spell. She was all smiles and was now repeating, "Thank you Swami."

Swami moved on, and eventually went up the Anandam residence. On the upper floor before He entered His bedroom, Swami said, "How can I tell a crying mother that her son cannot live long. Even at the cost of being misunderstood and called a liar, I have to tell what will help the mother now."

This was a totally a new facet of Swami, which I noticed that day. I could feel the pain that glistened in His compassionate eyes, and the burden of sorrow that made His heart beat heavy. I saw His helplessness in front of a hapless mother, who would not take 'no' for an answer. And saw Him risk His very name 'Sathya' to soothe a shattered soul!

His compassion is beyond the binary of right and wrong, truth and untruth, birth and death and would flow at any cost!

DIVINE VISIT – GADAG AND TUMKUR – OCTOBER 03, 2017

When in October of 2016, Swami had enquired about the opening of Gadag by this academic year, it drew a blank from the elders at the helm of affairs for it was already too late to apply for starting a school in the immediate academic year. To top it, despite several attempts, a suitable land for the school was not secured yet. However, a relentless Swami kept insisting and as a result, the land was found within a week and government postponed the last date for submitting the applications for a new school from October end to indefinitely! If this is not Divine will at work then what else is it? So within weeks the land was procured, permissions were secured in a record time of a month through the good offices of the Minister who dived in to this mission of rural education, devotees from Greece or Grace as Swami calls them, joined forces to ensure all that was needed was available, and thus despite the adverse wind and rain conditions, the school started in June 2017 with 55 girl children in Grade VI!

When recently they arrived for the Yajnas during Navarathri for their maiden visit to Sathya Sai Grama, He insisted that they stayed longer instead of the two days that they had planned and ensured that new clothes were stitched over night and many sarees procured to ensure they have enough clothing for the rest of the stay. This is Swami's love for the latest entrant in to the arena of education!

While Swami assured the children that He would do whatever is needed to complete the pending works quickly, the devotees from Greece...

DIVINE VISIT – SRI SATHYA SAI VANINIKETANAM, GADAG
OCTOBER 02, 2017

A short twenty minutes in the air, and Swami along with His guests reached the Gadag Campus, set amidst the hills and adorned with windmills. The wind speed in Gadag is the highest in Asia, and at times can go up to 45 Kms an hour!

The story of rains at Gadag was no different. The previous night and until the morning rains had lashed the grounds so much that the temporary roads were all washed away. A worried Principal kept praying for grace, and Swami had told her that "Everything will be ok when I come." The divine word had to come true! The incessant rains stopped and made way for a clear sky. Thus the chopper could land safely, and Swami was driven to the newly constructed quarters for the Chairperson of Gadag, Dr Vinodini Mahishi. The students were all chanting the Sai Rudram as Swami alighted the car and entered the home which He lovingly named as 'Divya Sannidhi', truly a deserving name both in letter and spirit. Swami went around the home and even in to the kitchen to boil some milk, as the inaugural ritual. Then He took His seat in the hall where the students and staff had gathered. He spontaneously burst in to a joyful chat and acquainted the guests with His staff and students. He praised Dr Vinodini, a Gynaecologist, who had given up her profession at Swami's command and had even given away her home at Dharwad to Swami for His mission. After ushering her in to her new quarters, Swami was finally satisfied. He also spoke very high of Ms Anupama Dhavale, who gave up the job of a lecturer at a college to become a mere school principal....

DIVINE VISIT – BHOOMI PUJA OF SRI SATHYA SAI SEVANIKETANAM, KOPPAL
OCTOBER 02, 2017

Despite the heavy rains for the past few days, the divine Sankalpa ensured a bright sunny day on 2nd October, so the chopper could take off from Muddenehalli to Yelburga, in Koppal District where the new land was ready for the auspicious ceremonies to begin. Yet another beacon of hope, an educational Campus for boys with residential facilities, that would start functioning from June 2018, with the first batch of students in Grade VI. The story of this Campus is no less than a miracle. Last year during the Alumni meet in September, the Higher Education Minister and District incharge of Koppal, Mr Basavaraj Rayareddy , graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and having visited Muddenehalli for the very first time he was massively impressed with the educational infrastructure and free work being done by Swami in rural India. With a prayer on his lips for a new campus in his constituency of Yelburga, Koppal, he left the place assuring everyone of all his support. Swami who heard his plea, immediately responded by announcing a Campus in Koppal that would commence from June 2018. Overwhelmed by Swami's consolation, the Minister himself took all the pains to identify a suitable land of 52 acres, and also secured the various permissions from the Education and land department to help start the campus sooner than one could imagine. As a result, Swami blessed that the Bhoomi Puja be conducted on 2nd October in the outskirts of Yelburga, in the village of Kudri Kotagi on the D Day.

The town that was known for its arid weather was wet with heavy rains for the last week or so, a first in its history. A divine sign of unprecedented grace! However, the rains washed away the temporary helipad, and when everyone....

NAVARATRI CELEBRATIONS
SEPTEMBER 30, 2017 (DAY 10)

Morning Session:

The last day symbolising the victory of good over evil, the Vijaya Dasami was celebrated in all its fervour in the very presence of the Siva Shakthi Swaroopa. Rama slayed Ravana on the day of Vijaya Dasami. Bhagawan during one of His discourses said "Ravana's 10 heads have got a significance. In fact, it is not only Ravana but all of us have ten heads.Five Karmendriyas: hands, mouth, feet, rectum and genitals; FiveGnanendriyas : eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin helping with sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch respectively. The wrong tendencies of the senses need to be conquered and they need to be put to good use. This day marks the victory over our senses. Dharmic life is possible only when we have control over our senses. Desires needs to be checked and sorted so that it does not create bondage. We must have only one desire and that is to realize our highest selves. All our actions should be focussed on God.Why do we eat? To maintain Body, the temple of God. Why do we study? To make ourselves capable so that we can serve the society in future. Why do we earn? To help our family and to serve society. This way, we are never bound."

The Laksha Gayatri Homa was performed along with Vyahruthi . The head priest explained that Gayatri Mantra was composed by Sage Vishwamitra....

SEPTEMBER 29, 2017 (DAY 9)

Morning Session:

The day of Navami in the Dussehra calendar began with the Chandika homa. Chandi is the personification of the aspect of anger of Goddess Durga. She killed the demons, Chanda and Munda. This Homa was performed along with the chanting of Durga Saptashathi and the Bheeja Mantra. The Bheeja Mantra has three syllables: Hymm, Hreem, Kleem .Hymm represents creation. Hreem represents sustenance/ protection.Kleem represents the wish fulfilling aspect of the Goddess. The mother creates, sustains and fulfills all our wishes. Thus, Chandika is a form of trinity. In the Padma Purana, it is said that she blesses those whose prayers are for the betterment of the whole world. She protects everybody from epidemics, sufferings and disasters.

The ninth day marks the day when Mahishasura was killed by Goddess Durga and she is worshipped as the Mahishasura Mardhini. Devi is given the ritualistic bath and sixteen varieties of offerings are given to her. The Bengali men prepared the Bhog /feast for the Goddess.

The Rudra Homa took place simultaneously. A Tamil song ' Eshwaramma eendru yedutha… ' was sung in the divine presence extolling the love of Bhagawan towards all His creation irrespective of caste, creed and race.Nadaswara music in different ragas was offered to appease the Rudraform of Bhagawan. The morning....

NAVARATRI CELEBRATIONS
SEPTEMBER 28, 2017 (DAY 8)

Morning Session:

The auspicious morning of the Eighth day of Navarathri celebrations, the Ashtami began with the Sai Gayatri Homa at around 7.45 am in the morning. This day was dedicated to Maha Gouri. All the ladies were adorned in the Saree that was distributed by Bhagawan the previous day.Devotees from West Bengal prepared the Ashtami Bhog/ feast for Goddess Durga. It is believed that on this day, Goddess Kali emerged from the forehead of Goddess Durga to annihilate the demons. The weapons wielded by the eight forms of Durga in the battle against Mahishasura were worshipped on this day.

The head priest of the Homa briefed the gathering on the inner significance of Yaga or sacrifice. The Bahiryaga is performed to the Lord who is formless and attribute less, the one who is nothing in everything and everything in nothing. The one who is the resident of every heart, keeps the lamp of devotion aglow in the hearts of devotees and drives away ignorance. In the Antar Yaga of life, Atma is the head priest;dedication and devotion is the consort of this priest; body is the offering to Divine; heart is the sacred sacrificial place, the pivotal point where God resides; nervous system is the Darba grass; worldly desire is the ghee offered; anger is the sacrificial fire; words are the preceptor; life breath is the subordinate priest conducting the sacrifice; eyes are the two other priests performing the sacrifice; mind is the observing factor not to be given importance. Fear of sin and the shame associated with tainting one's good name due to a bad conduct should be the driving force of life thus preventing us from a wrong action, food in taken is the sacrificial offering, every action is the flame of the sacrifice. This sacrifice....

NAVARATRI CELEBRATIONS
SEPTEMBER 27, 2017 (DAY 7)

Morning Session:

Muddenahalli continued to glitter on the seventh day of Navaratri celebrations, granting happiness as well as spiritual refinement to one and all. As it was the commencement of the Maha Rudra Yajnam, there was a palpable rise in the energy levels too. The Divine Mother was venerated on this day as Kalaratri, the one who helps dispels darkness to give light and helps the devotees to be courageous.

This day marked the first day of commencement of the last three days of Dussehra – the first three days were dedicated for the worship of Goddess Maha Kali, the next three days for Maha Lakshmi and the last three for the worship of Maha Saraswathi. The Homas that were performed on the seventh day were Saraswathi Homa and Medha Dakshinamoorthy Homa.Of the four types of Dakshinamoorthy Homas, Medha Dakshinamoorthy Homa is one of them. Just as the food that we consume is converted into energy, all that we learn too has to be stored for the span of our life. The milk is stored in the form of ghee and nectar is stored by bees as honey.Similarly, knowledge is stored as Medha Shakti. The priest explained that this Homa helps one to retain one's mind at the Lotus feet of the Lord, which is very important for a Sadhaka . It is said that by prayer to Vasishta, Dakshinamoorthy emerged from Lord Shiva to give him theBrahmagyan . This shows that this aspect of Lord Shiva is the source of knowledge. Goddess Saraswati...

NAVARATRI CELEBRATIONS
SEPTEMBER 26, 2017 (DAY 6)

Morning session:

Swami says that Dussehra is observed to purify the Dasha Indriyas or the ten senses. The atmosphere at Sai Hridaya Mandiram, Muddenahalli was beyond doubt paving the way for this as the sixth day of the Navaratri celebrations dawned. The Divine mother was worshipped as Kathyayani Devi. She sits in the Agnya Chakra of the spiritual aspirants and enables the seekers to have an inward vision.

Swami arrived at the Hridaya Mandiram, graciously blessing the devotees on His way to the dais. On the holy morning of Shashti, the main rituals of the Durga Puja commenced. Shivapanchakshari Homa and Sapthadravya Mahamrityunjaya Homa were also performed. Shiva Panchakshari Homa was rendered extolling Lord Shiva as the bestower to the needy, Guru to spiritual seekers, the one who consumed Haalahalaand the one who regulated the torrential flow of Ganga. The Mrithyunjaya Homa was performed to confer good health and longevity in order to lead a healthy and holy life of spiritual Sadhana .

The priest then proceeded to explain the significance of these Homams as per the Puranas . With Swami's permission, he also explained the significance of the Golu or the doll arrangement that is done during Dussehra. When...

SEPTEMBER 25, 2017 (DAY 5)

Morning Session:

The Navaratri festivities continued at Sri Sathya Sai Hridaya Mandiram, Muddenahalli with fervor on the Fifth day. The day is called as Lalitha Panchami day and the Divine Mother is worshipped as Skandamatha along with Kumaraswamy . Swami profusely blessed all the devotees seated outside and inside the hall before consecrating the Pooja items to be offered for the Lalitha Tripurasundari Homa and Durga Parameswari Homa.

The Sri Chakram drawn as a colourful Mandalam was perfect in all respects. Mother Lalitha resides in the Sri Chakra and worship of the same is extolled in our Puranas . At the end of the Poornahuti , the priest explained about each part of this Chakra in elaborate detail and emphasized the need for installing the Devi in our hearts. He compared the Sai devotees conducting Pooja in the presence of Sookshma Sai to Bharata's ruling of Ayodhya keeping Rama's Holy Padhukas on the throne.

Suvaasini Pooja and Kanika Pooja were conducted to eleven Sumangaliladies and two girls worshipping them as representatives of the feminine Shakthi. At the end of it, all the priests along with their families received Bhagwan's blessings even as He lovingly enquired about their welfare.

Mahishasura Mardhini Stothram was chanted by the students....
