¿Qué debemos hacer en Shivarathri?

 

 

El hombre piensa que es el cuerpo y está de este modo sumergido en la consciencia del cuerpo. Se engaña a sí mismo creyendo que el cuerpo lo es todo y que es permanente. Pero el cuerpo es el templo de Dios, y el alma individual o Jeeva no es otro más que Dios Mismo. Es debido a la Presencia de Dios que el templo adquiere valor. Similarmente, el cuerpo es también un templo donde Dios reside.

 

En este cuerpo material, Dios vive en forma sutil como el Atma. Solo por el hecho de que el hombre no puede ver a Dios, él dice que Dios no existe. El hombre tiene que conocer que existe una manera, de que hay un procedimiento, un camino por el cual podemos realizar a Dios. No porque no podamos ver, podemos afirmar que no hay nada allí. A través de las prácticas espirituales, hasta cierto punto podemos comprender y realizar a Dios. Swami ha estado siempre dirigiéndose a ustedes como Encarnaciones del Amor, Encarnaciones de la Divinidad, Encarnaciones del Atma. Él nunca se ha dirigido a ustedes como cuerpos. No es suficiente que solamente Swami conozca lo que es Verdad en ustedes, ustedes también deberían realizar esta Verdad. Con el propósito de conocer esta Verdad, es necesario que hagamos un esfuerzo. En los Upanishads se dice que la totalidad del Universo está basada en nuestra mente.

 

La mente es la responsable tanto de la esclavitud como de la liberación. Lo que puede conectar al cuerpo y a la Divinidad es la mente. Cuando la mente se torna hacia afuera, se llena con la consciencia del cuerpo, pero cuando la misma mente se torna hacia la Divinidad en nuestro interior, se llena de Refulgencia Divina. La mente no es más que un haz de pensamientos. Los pensamientos que llenan vuestra mente les dan una dirección a vuestra vida. Es necesario sintetizar todos nuestros pensamientos; palabras y acciones. Nuestro viaje es desde nuestros pensamientos hacia nuestro carácter. La clase de persona que son y cuál es vuestro carácter depende de la clase de pensamientos que ustedes tengan. Con el propósito de desarrollar sentimientos Divinos, es necesario estar en la compañía de lo Divino. Cuando nuestros pensamientos son Divinos, naturalmente nuestras palabras y acciones también se convierten en Divinas.

 

Existe una estrecha relación entre la mente y la luna. Dependiendo de los aspectos de la luna en un día dado, tales pensamientos surgen en la mente. La luna nace de la mente de Dios y el sol nace de los ojos de Dios. La luna no posee iluminación propia, es la iluminación del sol lo que es reflejado. Incluso la mente opera por el poder del Atma. A través de la mente hacemos un mal uso de este poder del Atma, desarrollamos la consciencia del cuerpo y nos sometemos al sufrimiento.

 

¿Qué está ocurriendo en el Día de Shivarathri? En el Día de Shivarathri, las dimensiones de la luna o de sus aspectos son tan mínimas que tendrán un escaso efecto sobre la mente. De este modo, en este día es posible conquistar nuestra mente. Si deseamos conquistar nuestra mente, ¿qué es lo que debemos hacer? Debemos entregarnos. Cuando le entregamos nuestra mente a Dios, Él se hará cargo de su control.

 

En este Día de Shivarathri, ¿qué debemos hacer? Tenemos que ofrecer nuestra mente completamente a Dios y asegurarnos de que ningún otro pensamiento más que el de la Divinidad ocupe nuestra mente. Podemos lograrlo en gran parte a través de los Bhajans.

 

Si desean celebrar Shivarathri sentados en un lugar, vuestra mente vagará de aquí para allá. Esa es la razón por la cual organizamos los Bhajans. Las manos están aplaudiendo manteniendo el tiempo; la cabeza está sumida en la meditación en Dios; el corazón está sumergido en el amor por Dios. La Unidad de los tres es verdadera meditación. Si desean tornar la visión hacia vuestro interior, deben tornar la mente hacia el interior. Si desean controlar vuestra mente completamente, sumérjanse en los Bhajans. Este sentimiento que les proporcionan los Bhajans debe sentirse en cada cabello y en cada célula de nuestro cuerpo. Deberíamos deleitarnos en la alegría de la devoción y alcanzar la Divinidad.

 

El Shivarathri de hoy no es un Shivarathri común. Después de muchos, muchos eones y eras, esta clase de Shivarathri ha venido a nosotros. Este Shivarathri es un momento de transición de una Era a otra. Por lo tanto, es bueno que aprovechemos esta oportunidad.

 

Entre las tres funciones de Creación; Conservación y finalmente Disolución, Shiva es el Dios de la Disolución. En consecuencia, nosotros Le oramos a Shiva para que nuestra mente se disuelva. Aún si no están sentados aquí y participando de los Bhajans, en cualquier lugar por el cual estén caminando, deben cantar el Panchakshari "Om Namah Shivaya". "Namah" significa que yo no soy el cuerpo, "Namah Shivaya" significa que yo no soy el cuerpo, que yo soy Shiva. Por lo tanto, vamos a desarrollar este sentimiento de Shiva hoy.

What must we do on Shivaratri?

 

Man thinks that he is the body and is therefore engulfed in body consciousness. He is deluded to think that the body is everything and that it is permanent. But body is the temple of God and the individual soul or the Jeeva is none other than God Himself. It is because of God that the temple attains a value. Similarly, body is also a temple where God resides.

 

In this gross body, God lives in the subtle form as the Atma. Just because man cannot see God, he says that there is no God. Man has to know that there is a way, there is a procedure, there is a path by which we can realise God. Just because we cannot see, we cannot say that it is not there. Through spiritual practices to some extent, we can understand and realise God. Swami has been always addressing you as embodiments of love, embodiments of divinity, embodiments of Atma; He never addresses you as embodiments of just bodies. It is not good enough that Swami alone knows what is the truth in you; you should also realise what is the truth in you. In order to know this truth, it is necessary we put in the effort. In the Upanishads, it is said that the whole universe is based on our mind.

 

Mind is responsible for both our bondage and liberation. What can connect body and Divinity is the mind in between. When mind turns towards outside, it becomes filled with body consciousness. But when the same mind is turned towards Divinity within, it becomes full of Divine effulgence. Mind is nothing but a bundle of thoughts. The thoughts which fill your mind give a direction to your life. It is necessary we synthesise all our thoughts, words and deeds. Our journey is from our thoughts to our character. What kind of person you are, what is your character depends on the kinds of thoughts you have. In order to develop Divine feelings, it is necessary we get into the company of the Divine. When your thoughts are Divine, naturally your words and actions will also become Divine.

 

There is a very close relationship between mind and the moon. Depending on the aspects of the moon on a given day, such thoughts come up in the mind. Moon is born of the mind of God and sun is born of the eyes of God. Moon does not have self illumination; it is the illumination of the sun which is reflected. Even the mind works because of the power of the Atma. Through the mind, we misuse this power of the Atma, develop body consciousness and subject ourselves to suffering.

 

What is happening on a Shivaratri day? On a Shivaratri day, the size of the moon or the aspects of the moon are so minimal, they will have minimum effect on the mind. So, on this day it is possible to conquer our mind. If you want to conquer the mind, what is it that you have to do? You have to surrender. When we surrender our mind to God, God will look after the control of the mind. On this Shivaratri day, what do we do? We have to offer our mind completely to God and see that no other thoughts other than the Divine come in the mind. We can achieve it through Bhajan to a great extent. If you want to just celebrate Shivaratri sitting in a place, your mind will wander here and there. That is why we organise this Bhajan. Hands are clapping, keeping time. The head is involved in meditation on God. The heart is merged in love for God. Oneness of all the three is true meditation. If you want to turn your vision inward, you have to turn the mind inward. If you want to control your mind completely, involve yourselves in Bhajan.  In every hair, every cell of our body, this Bhajan feeling should come up. We should revel in the joy of devotion and attain Divinity.

 

On this day, Shiva's blessings will be in abundance on those people who want to attain God  by putting their complete self effort with aspiration and yearning.

 

Today's Shivaratri is not an ordinary Shivaratri. After many, many eons and ages, this kind of Shivaratri has come to us. This Shivaratri is a moment of transition from one age to another. Therefore, it is good that we put all this opportunity to very good use. Among the three functions of creation, sustenance and finally dissolution, Shiva is the God of dissolution. Therefore, we should pray to Shiva so that our mind gets dissolved. Even if you are not sitting here and involving yourself in Bhajan, wherever you are walking around, you chant the Panchakshari "Om Namah Shivaya". "Namaha" means I am not this body. "Namah Shivaya" means I am not body, I am Shiva. Therfore, let us develop that Shiva feeling today.

Mensaje de la aparición del Lingam de Mahashivarathri

 

 

La Felicidad es la Unión con Dios

 

 

Resulta muy difícil para los seres humanos identificados con su forma física, darse cuenta; conocer y comprender al Dios sin forma. De hecho, este Lingam es una transición de la forma a lo sin forma. A través del Lingam, Shiva demuestra y enseña el aspecto sin forma de Dios.

 

Yo no soy la mente; yo no soy la inteligencia; yo no soy la mente inconsciente; yo no soy el ego; yo no soy este cuerpo; yo no soy los sentidos; el nacimiento y la muerte no me afectan así como tampoco ningún pecado o mérito. ¿Cuál es mi verdadera forma? Chidananda Rupam –la encarnación de la Consciencia; la Belleza y la Bienaventuranza–

 

La Felicidad es la Unión con Dios. Esa clase de Alegría no puede ser encontrada en el mundo. La felicidad del mundo viene y va, es temporal, pero la Alegría Divina; la Bienaventuranza Divina es permanente y eterna. Esto ocurrió porque deseo concederles esas gloriosas experiencias que han experimentado en el pasado. De hecho, cuando ustedes oran con un sentimiento Divino, ese sentimiento por sí mismo se manifestará en forma sólida. Las Encarnaciones bajan a la Tierra debido a Su Compasión y Amor por los seres humanos. Swami es Dios; Él no es un ser humano ordinario. Reconozcan esta verdad y actúen en consecuencia. Él no tiene limitaciones, puede hacerlo todo en cualquier momento y lugar. Él tiene el Poder de utilizar a cualquiera y hacer cualquier cosa.

 

Pasen toda la noche cantando el Nombre de Dios a través de los Bhajans. Mientras el sonido puede escucharse solamente en este hall, vuestros sentimientos pueden atravesar todo el Universo. Los pensamientos entrarán en el Akasha. Ese es el Vyoma definitivo, el cielo o éter.

 

Dios también dice que "Mi Forma Definitiva es el Cielo Supremo, el Éter Supremo" Vuestros nobles sentimientos comenzando desde aquí se extenderán por todo el mundo. Por lo tanto, involúcrense completamente con la mente y el corazón; el corazón y el alma en este Bhajan.

Happiness is Union with God

 

To realise, know and understand the formless God for human beings with forms is very difficult. In fact, this Lingam is a transition from the form to the formless. Through the Lingam, Shiva demonstrates and teaches this formless aspect of God. I am not the mind, I am not the intelligence, I am not the sub-conscious mind, I am not the ego, I am not this body, I am not the senses, birth and death do not affect me, no sin, no merit will affect me. What is my true form? Chidananda Rupam – the embodiment of awareness, beauty and bliss.

 

Happiness is union with God. That kind of joy you can't find in the world. Happiness of the world will come and go; it is very temporary but Divine joy, Divine bliss is permanent and eternal. This happened because I wanted to bestow upon you those glorious experiences which you had experienced in the past. In fact, when you pray with a Divine feeling, that feeling itself will get transformed into solid form. Incarnations come down to the earth because of their compassion and love for human beings. Swami is God; He is not an ordinary human being. You recognise this truth and behave accordingly. He has no limitations, He can do anything, anytime, anywhere. He has got the power to utilise anybody and do anything.

 

The whole of night involve yourselves in chanting the name of God, singing Bhajans. While the sound can be heard only in this hall, your feeling can traverse all over the universe. Thoughts will get into the Akasha. That is the ultimate Vyoma or sky or ether. God also says that My ultimate form is this supreme sky, supreme ether. Your noble feelings starting from here will go all over the world. Therefore, you involve yourself with complete mind and heart, heart and soul in this Bhajan.

Los esfuerzos espirituales son muy importantes

 

 

La totalidad de este Universo no es nada más que Brahman. Cuando ustedes miran externamente, pueden encontrar algunas diferencias, mas cuando dirigen su visión hacia el interior, solo existe una cosa y es el Atma. Solamente cuando podamos dirigir los sentidos, los cuales normalmente van hacia afuera, hacia adentro, podemos reconocer esta Verdad. Los sentidos obedecen a la dirección que les indica la mente. Con el propósito de controlar esta extroversión de la mente, la devoción es muy, muy esencial. En este maravilloso día del Festival de Mahashivaratri, todos ustedes han venido aquí con gran fe; amor y devoción y han cantado la Gloria de Dios durante toda la noche. Todo esto definitivamente los ayudará en vuestro camino espiritual. Cualquier tarea que emprendamos en el Nombre de Dios nunca se desperdiciará.

 

"Condúceme de la oscuridad a la Luz". La noche de Shivaratri está plena de oscuridad. Habiendo conquistado esta oscuridad pronunciando el Nombre de Dios con devoción, el amanecer de la Sabiduría seguramente caerá sobre nosotros. La inercia o cualidad Tamásica de la consciencia del cuerpo es trascendida por la pureza o cualidad Sátvica, y de este modo alcanzamos la Sabiduría. Del mismo modo en que cuando la oscuridad se ha desvanecido amanece y hay luz, también en nuestras vidas nuestra ignorancia debería desvanecerse y la Sabiduría debería amanecer. La ignorancia es oscuridad. La consciencia del cuerpo es ignorancia. La Consciencia Divina es la Luz. Cuando encienden una lámpara, la oscuridad desaparece por sí misma. Del mismo modo, cuando la llama del Atma Jnana o Conocimiento del Alma o Autorrealización es encendida, podremos liberarnos de la oscuridad de la ignorancia.

 

Tenemos que lograr esto con determinación. Cuando nos reunimos en la Divina Presencia en un muy sagrado Festival como este, no debemos perder la oportunidad. Cuando aspiran a realizar el Atma, deberían realizar el esfuerzo requerido y no parar hasta alcanzar la meta. Vuestro esfuerzo y Mi Gracia juntos les otorgará el éxito.

 

Muchas personas Me oran para que les garantice la experiencia del Atma, pero no se preguntan si ellos verdaderamente lo merecen. A través de un cable, el cual es muy delgado y tiene poca capacidad, si el alto voltaje fluyera a través de él, ocasionaría un corto circuito, se quemaría y se convertiría en inservible. Cuando colocan agua en un recipiente ¿cómo podría sostener el agua? Únicamente cuando el recipiente está bien hecho es que puede sostener el agua. Solamente cuando quememos nuestras cualidades animales o Tamásicas con el fuego de la Sabiduría, mereceremos que Dios nos ayude a obtener esa clase de experiencia. La experiencia del Atma es nuestro derecho de nacimiento. Nadie les puede arrebatar ese derecho. Pero si desean experimentarla, deben realizar algún esfuerzo.

 

Hoy han comenzado el viaje. No se detengan. Hagan que cada día esté pleno de Shiva y de la Divinidad. Cada paso tomado en la dirección correcta, los aproximará más a nuestra meta, no los alejará de ella.

 

Por lo tanto, encaminen sus pasos más cerca de Dios, no lejos de Dios.

 

 

 

 

Divine Discourse Summary – February 25, 2017

Spiritual effort is very important

 

Whole of this universe is nothing else other than Brahman. When you look outside externally, you may find some differences but when you look inward, there is only one thing, that is the Atma. Only when we can turn the senses, which usually go outward to go inward, we can recognise this truth. The senses go the way the mind tells them to. In order to control this outgoing mind, devotion is very, very essential. On this wonderful festival day of Mahashivaratri, all of you have come here with great faith, love and devotion and have sung the glory of God throughout night. All this definitely will help you in the spiritual path. Any task that we undertake in the name of God will never go waste.

 

'Lead me from darkness to light'. The night of Shivaratri is full of darkness. Having conquered this darkness by uttering the name of God with devotion, the morning sunrise of wisdom will surely dawn upon us. The inertia or Tamasik quality of body consciousness is won over by purity – the Satvik quality – and we attain wisdom. In the same way as darkness has vanished and there is sunrise and light, in our lives too our ignorance should end and wisdom should dawn. Ignorance is darkness. Body consciousness is ignorance. Divine consciousness is the light. When you light the lamp, darkness vanishes by itself. In the same way when the flame of Atma jnana or self realisation dawns, we can get rid of the darkness of ignorance.

 

We have to achieve it through determination.When we get together in the Divine presence on a very sacred festival like this, we should not waste the opportunity.  When you aspire to realise the Atma, you should put in the spiritual effort required and should not stop till you reach the goal. Your effort and My grace together will bestow upon you success.

 

Many people pray to Me to grant them the experience of Atma but are they wonder whether they really deserve it. Through a wire, which is very slender and has low capacity, if high power flows through it, it will get short circuited and burnt and become useless. When you put water into a pot, how can it hold the water?  Only when the pot is made well, can hold water. Only when we burn our animal qualities or the Tamasik qualities with the fire of wisdom, we will deserve that God can help us to get that kind of experience. It is your birthright to experience the Atma – nobody can take away that right from you. But if you want to experience it, you have to put in some effort.

Today you have started on the journey. Don't stop. Make every day full of Shiva and Divine. Every step taken in the right direction will take us nearer to our goal, not away from the goal. Therefore, take every step nearer to God, not away from God.
