SRI DURGA DEVI HEARS OUR PRAYERS

I would like to share a really beautiful leela with you that happened recently.
As you all know it's been a really contentious election season here in the states.
Both on the Republican and Democratic side.
Last week when Hillary Clinton lost Michigan a lot of her supporters were upset and taken aback.
I felt sad also since I supported Secretary Clinton. During that time in my meditations I pulled a Baba quote from my blue Baba bag and found this quote particularly soothing and helpful to calm the extreme emotions that usually arise with political sentiments:
"When loss is incurred, men are miserable, but profit too brings misery in its train. The tax-gatherer's shadow haunts the profit maker. The attitude must be 'Let what comes, come .' One should have no elation or dejection. Welcome the fruit, whatever it is, as a gift from God. Do not bank on its quantity or quality, or plan what to do with it. Do your duty, sincerely and to the best of your ability. Let the result be what He wills. Success and failure are often unpredictable experiences, they follow man, alternately, without any clear reason. So, the sadhaka and seeker of peace have to concentrate on doing their duty, doing what has to be done and leave the rest to Providence."
I told our beloved Swami I would really try to adopt the feeling of "Let what comes, come." But, I would continue to pray for my candidate of choice. A week went by and it was soon time for the next round of super Tuesday contests. I started praying and reciting mantras. I petitioned the Divine Mother and Father yet always with that feeling of "Let what comes, come." At the same time trying to be aware that there were other people who were just as passionate about their choice of candidate. So I prayed to not become mean spirited or harbor any hateful feelings towards my candidate's opponent.
That Tuesday Hillary won all five states. Of course all the Clinton supporters were elated. I stayed pretty centered and avoided gloating or over-celebration conscious again there were other fellow devotees and friends that were in pain over these results.
The following day after the primaries I went to the Yoga Shakti Ma ashram and gave thanks to the Divine Mother for her blessings. I did mantras to all the deities in that sacred temple. I felt extremely grateful for
this sylvan sanctuary only 5 minutes from my home. The head of the ashram Shyma came into the temple as I was offering prayers to Goddess Durga. We talked briefly and she left. I continued doing prayers asking her to bless my grandsons, Alexander Sathya and Sean Sai with good schooling and a happy life.
As I sat gazing at the extraordinarily exquisite porcelain statue of Goddess Durga, quite suddenly I saw something fall from Her and land with a thump at the Divine Feet. Immediately I got up and called Shyma. She came in and said, "If an earring falls from Her, they say She is listening to you." We both walked over to the Idol and looked by Her feet. There shining at the lotus feet was Her left gold and ruby earring.
Naturally, I was thrilled to the core. Beloved devotees prayers are very powerful, God hears and does answer our prayers. But He wants us to also develop non attachment and to be able to surrender the results of our actions to Him. The affairs of the world are all under God's celestial control. We just have to do our duty and leave the rest to His Supernal Grace.
